Ceasefire with Pakistan to continue, no expiry date: Indian Army
The Indian Army has said that the ceasefire with Pakistan will continue. At the same time, there is no end date for this ceasefire. This was reported by local Indian media, citing relevant sources.
On Sunday (May 18), NDTV quoted an army officer as saying that the ceasefire agreed between India and Pakistan will continue.
Ruling out the idea that the ceasefire with Pakistan was temporary and that the ceasefire agreement would end today, the official said, “The decision taken in the DGMO (Director General Military Operations) talks in New Delhi and Islamabad does not have a specific expiry date.”
Indian media say that no schedule has been set for any talks between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan on Sunday.
Earlier, on Friday, Indian media, citing relevant sources, reported that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan has been extended till May 18.
In a post on social media Truth Social on May 10, US President Donald Trump said that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “complete and immediate ceasefire.”
In a statement after four days of exchange of fire between India and Pakistan, Trump said, “After long, night-long talks brokered by the United States, they have agreed to a ceasefire.”
The US president wrote on Truth Social, “I am pleased to announce that after long, night-long talks brokered by the United States, India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire.” India and Pakistan later confirmed that they had agreed to a ceasefire.
