Blockade of Nagar Bhaban in South, Demand Asif Mahmud’s Resignation

Supporters of BNP leader Ishraq Hossain are holding a blockade of Nagar Bhaban in South Dhaka. The protesters said that the program will continue if Ishraq Hossain is not given the responsibility of the post of mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) through oath-taking. They also demanded the resignation of local government Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan for delaying the oath-taking.

As part of a series of programs, Ishraq Hossain’s supporters have been holding a blockade of Nagar Bhaban since Monday (May 19) morning.

They demanded the resignation of local government head Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan with slogans.

The protesters said that the program will continue if Engineer Ishraq Hossain is not given the responsibility of the post of mayor through oath-taking, and questioned why the local government is still delaying the oath-taking even after the court verdict.

Service users are facing difficulties as the normal operations of the city hall have been suspended for the fifth day. However, the protesters say that this program is to ensure permanent development of the city.
