US sanctions on Indian agents
The United States has imposed sanctions on several Indian travel agents. The US State Department alleges that the travel agencies are involved in illegal immigration. That is, they are involved in sending immigrants to the United States illegally.
The US administration said that the visa ban has been imposed on everyone from the owners to the employees of the companies. However, the names of the companies have not been publicly disclosed. It has not been made clear how the companies are involved in illegal immigration.
The State Department said that US consulates in India and the Diplomatic Secret Service personnel have identified the companies and individuals.
Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said in a statement that visa bans have been imposed on numerous unidentified individuals under the Immigration and Nationality Act based on information from the US mission in India. “We will continue to impose visa restrictions on owners, executives and senior officials of travel agencies to disrupt illegal immigration networks,” he said. However, he did not disclose details of how the agencies facilitated illegal immigration.
