Powerful blast on school bus in Pakistan, 5 killed, including 3 children
Five people, including 3 children, were killed and several others injured in a powerful blast on a school bus in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Wednesday (May 21) morning.
Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said a blast ripped through a bus carrying students in Khuzdar district. The bus was taking the children to school.
According to initial reports, three children and two adults were killed. The blast injured 35 others, said the deputy commissioner of Khuzdar.
Al Jazeera reported that the school bus belonged to the Army Public School. It was on its way to pick up the children in the morning when the suicide bomber attacked it.
The injured have been shifted to CMH Khuzdar for treatment and authorities have cordoned off the area to collect evidence from the scene.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack and expressed deep grief and condolences for the loss of innocent lives.
The minister said, “The enemy has shown its barbarity by attacking innocent children. The attack on the school bus is a despicable conspiracy to destabilize the country.”
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, authorities said the death toll could rise due to the intensity of the blast.
