Six Ukrainian soldiers killed in Russian missile attack

Six Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in a Russian missile attack. At least 10 others were injured. The BBC reported this, citing local officials.
According to the report, a Russian missile hit a military installation during training in the Sumy border area of northeastern Ukraine on Tuesday evening (May 20).
Ukraine’s National Guard confirmed the attack early Wednesday (May 21). It said that the attack was carried out while a military unit was training at a firing range. A commander has been dismissed after the attack and a formal investigation has been launched. The Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday evening that it had carried out a ballistic missile attack in the Sumy region. The ministry also released a video showing an Iskander missile attack on a training camp. State news agency TASS reported that 70 people were killed in the attack.
Video released by the Russian Defense Ministry shows dozens of soldiers walking along a path near a forest, followed by an explosion and a plume of smoke.
The BBC said its investigation showed the training camp was located in the northern Sumy region, just south of the Russian border. It was targeted.
Kiev’s troops launched a major cross-border offensive into Russia’s Kursk from Ukraine’s Sumy region last year, seizing a large part of Kursk.
The Ukrainian military says the offensive is aimed at creating a buffer zone to protect Sumy. But it has suffered military losses. Moscow has launched a fierce offensive in Sumy in recent months after retaking its territory, which is still ongoing.
