You are the Yunus of 18 crore people, we don’t want your resignation: Farooq
Advisor to BNP Chairperson Zainul Abdin Farooq said to Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, ‘You are not an individual Yunus, but a Dr. Yunus of 18 crore Bangladesh. We don’t want your resignation.’
He said these things as the chief guest in the open protest rally titled ‘Countrymen, stand up against the conspiracy to sabotage the national election’ organized by Invincible Bangladesh at the National Press Club today (May 23) noon.
He said to Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus, ‘You are disgraced, may your name be written in golden letters in history. If you leave disgraced, we will feel sad. You should establish the people’s right to vote by holding an election like Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed. Then your name will be written in history.’
Regarding the resignation of the chief advisor, Farooq said, ‘I was surprised on Thursday. I saw it in the newspaper, I don’t know how much truth there is. You told the NCP leader that I have no choice but to resign. This has made me very sad.’
He said, ‘I had appointed you for the elections. It has been 9 months since the election roadmap has been given. The election schedule has not been announced yet in Kader Kanpada. Therefore, our party is forced to say that your three advisors will have to resign.’
Farooq further said, ‘The delay in the parliamentary elections has created unrest in the country. Who are the main culprits of this unrest? Who wants to delay the elections? We wanted to know these issues from a great person like Dr. Yunus. If you have created this unrest, BNP will never accept responsibility for it.’
The event was chaired by the organizing organization’s vice-president MA Azad Chayan and moderated by General Secretary Ismail Hossain Siraji. BNP Joint Secretary General Abdus Salam Azad, Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, and executive committee member Abu Naser Muhammad Rahmatullah also spoke.
