Elections between December and June, Chief Advisor tells BNP
Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has told BNP to organize national elections between December this year and June next year.
Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told reporters at the gate after the meeting of BNP, Jamaat and NCP with the Chief Advisor of the interim government in Jamuna on Saturday (May 24) night.
He said that all parties have expressed their confidence in the leadership of the Chief Advisor. Everyone has wanted elections under him and Dr. Yunus has said that elections will be held between December and June. He also said that Jamaat has supported it.
Chief Advisor said that elections will be held between June, and that June will not pass, Shafiqul Alam further said,
He (Chief Advisor) told BNP leaders that elections will be held between December this year and June next year. He is a man of his word. He keeps his word.
Regarding the BNP’s demand for the resignation of three advisors, he said,
We have heard that BNP representatives have spoken about the resignation of some people from the advisory council.
Regarding the National Citizens Party’s (NCP) demand, he said, NCP believes that a level playing field for elections is not possible in the current situation, they have demanded the restructuring of the Election Commission (EC).
Shafiqul Alam also said that the trial process for the July massacre will begin this month.
