There is scope for reconsideration of Government Services (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025: Legal Advisor

There is scope for reconsideration of Government Services (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, said Law, Judicial and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul.

He said this while talking to reporters after a meeting with the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances at the Secretariat on Monday (June 16).

The advisor said that the high-level committee formed to review the law is meeting at around 4 pm today.

The government formed a committee under the leadership of the Legal Advisor to review the Government Services (Amendment) Ordinance and make recommendations.

Dr. Asif Nazrul said, “I was abroad at that time (when the ordinance was approved). I was not directly involved in the formulation of the law. So later when I saw the law, it seems to me that there is definitely an opportunity to reconsider it in some places.’

The legal advisor said that the committee will meet at 4 pm on Monday to decide what demands the government employees have made and how they will be considered. After deciding, the committee’s report will be presented to the advisory council meeting as soon as possible.

Requesting the protesting government employees to be patient in this situation, the legal advisor said, “If you do not like the work of the committee, then give (the agenda).”

He requested the employees to ensure that there is no disruption to government work.
