Brazil interested in cooperating with Bangladesh on various issues: Khosru

Brazil has expressed interest in cooperating with Bangladesh on various issues, including football, said BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.

On Tuesday (June 17), a meeting was held between Brazilian Ambassador to Bangladesh Paulo Fernando Dias Feres and a delegation led by the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, the capital.

Later, Amir Khosru said that Brazil is interested in cooperating with Bangladesh on various issues, including the agricultural sector. Therefore, they want to see an elected government in Bangladesh to implement cooperation.

This BNP Standing Committee member said that discussions were held on what kind of work can be done with Brazil in the coming days. Brazil is far ahead in agriculture. Bangladesh is doing well in agriculture, but if it wants to become self-reliant, there is a huge opportunity to get cooperation from Brazil. Apart from this, there is a lot of potential for milk supply, there is an opportunity to increase production and export.

He said that another interesting discussion took place, which is sports. The football country is known as a sports nation. There have been discussions on where to cooperate in Bangladesh’s sports. They are interested in cooperating in various fields including football, basketball and others in Bangladesh.

Stating that the Bangladesh elections have nothing to do with the international situation at that time, he said that the elections will be held in the country on time. The interim government should definitely talk to the Election Commission (EC) to determine the date of the elections. Besides, BNP is keeping an eye on the government’s activities regarding Ishraq Hossain’s mayoral and oath-taking.
