Three killed in bus-easybike collision in Barguna

Three people were killed in a collision between a bus and a battery-powered easybike in Amtoli upazila of Barguna. Four more were injured in the incident.

The accident occurred on Saturday (June 21) in the Kewabunia Secondary School area on the Patuakhali-Kuakata regional highway in the upazila.

The deceased were Abdul Aziz (55), a senior teacher of the Ibtedayi branch of Gazipur Senior Fazil Madrasa in the upazila, his daughter Moshaddika (25) and Beyain Khaleda (45). The deceased were residents of Sonakhali village in Athargachhia union of the upazila. They were all passengers of the easybike.

Eyewitnesses said that around noon on Saturday, an Iqra Paribahan bus was heading towards Kuakata. On the way, when it reached Kewabunia School, it collided head-on with an easybike coming from the opposite direction. The easybike was twisted and twisted. Three people on the easy bike died on the spot. In addition, four others, including a child, were injured. Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ariful Islam Arif said that the bus driver and helper fled after the accident. A drive is underway to arrest them.
