    8 killed in bus-Mahindra collision in Mymensingh identified

    The death toll in a bus-Mahindra collision in Phulpur, Mymensingh has risen to 8. All of them were Mahindra passengers. The Phulpur police have identified all the deceased.

    The deceased are Kazim Uddin (28) of Nijguddimari village under Hatibandha police station in Lalmonirhat, Rubel (30) of Joyramkura village in Haluaghat upazila, Farid Mia (38) of Kaziakanda village in Phulpur, Zaher Ali (70) of Niguakanda village, Hasina Khatun (50) of Balijuri village, Shamsuddin (65) of Kayarhati village, Nayan Mia (40) of Kaliyanikandi village and Lal Mia (36) of Isabpur village in Purbadhala upazila.

    Locals said that on Friday (June 20), around 8:30 pm, a terrible accident occurred in the Kaziakanda Indirapar area of ​​​​Phulpur upazila. The Mahindra was going from Phulpur to Haluaghat.

    The accident occurred while overtaking a sand lorry parked in the Indirapar area. A Dhaka-bound Shyamli Bangla bus coming from the opposite direction hit the Mahindra, which skidded and hit an electric pole on the side of the road, causing the Mahindra to twist. Five people, including a woman, were killed on the spot. Six more injured in the incident were rescued and taken to the hospital, where three more died. After the accident, an angry mob set the bus on fire.

    Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Phulpur Police Station Abdur Hadi said that three people are still undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Since the families have no complaints, the bodies have been handed over without an autopsy.

    Earlier, three passengers of an autorickshaw were killed in a head-on collision between a government health complex ambulance and a CNG-powered autorickshaw in Kodaldhar area of ​​Tarakanda upazila on the Mymensingh-Haluaghat road at around 5:30 pm. The deceased are Jobeda Khatun (85), wife of the late Abdul Barek of Baratia village in Goatla union of Dhobaura upazila, Rakibul Hasan (15), son of Jamal Uddin of Madipur Sutarpar village in Boula union of Phulpur upazila, and the autorickshaw driver Mohammad Alam (35), a resident of Shuilam Mugberiya village in Ghagra union of Mymensingh Sadar upazila.
