Mob justice is not acceptable in any way: Home Affairs Advisor
Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Agriculture, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, said that mob justice is not acceptable in any way. The way mob justice was done during the detention of former Election Commissioner Nurul Huda is not desirable, if any of the forces are involved in such incidents in the presence of law enforcement agencies, legal action will be taken after investigating it.
He said these things in response to questions from journalists after visiting the Mouchake Horticulture Center in Gazipur on Monday (June 23) morning.
The Home Affairs Advisor said, ‘The news published yesterday about the arrest of former Chief Election Commissioner Habibul Awal is not correct. He has not been arrested yet. Former Chief Election Commissioner Nurul Huda has been arrested from Uttara.’
The advisor said that an agricultural land protection law is being enacted to prevent encroachment of agricultural land, and said, ‘In addition to foreign fruits, the production of domestic fruits should be increased so that these fruits do not get lost.’
When asked what should be done about the current increase in the rate of robberies in Gazipur, he said, ‘The number of police will not be increased for this, but police surveillance will be increased to control robbers. So that they cannot carry out robbery activities.’
During the inspection, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Nafisa Arefin, Superintendent of Police Dr. Chowdhury Jaber Sadek, Kaliakair Upazila Executive Officer Kausar Ahmed, Horticulture Center’s Enamul Haque and senior officials of the police and agriculture ministry were present.
At that time, the advisor visited different areas of the Horticulture Center and spoke to the officers and employees and gave various directions.
