Iran in turmoil, President joins in protests

Iran in turmoil, strongly condemning the recent US airstrikes. Iranian President Masoud Pajhwokian joined the movement. Al Jazeera reports.

Thousands of people took part in the protest in the capital Tehran since Sunday (June 22) morning.

The streets of Tehran were filled with shouts of ‘Revenge! Revenge!’ The protesters’ fists shook in sync with the procession. The common people of Iran gathered in a large demonstration holding Iranian flags in protest against the US attack. At this time, Iranian President Masoud Pajhwokian himself joined them in the movement.

Azadi Square, Ferdowsi Square, Imam Khomeini Mosque and in front of the parliament building were the main protest sites. Iranian state television and local media broadcast the news of these protests live.

It is worth noting that on June 13, Israel attacked an Iranian military installation. Iran began to respond to the attack. Then, on Saturday night (June 21), the United States launched airstrikes on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities in a military operation called “Operation Midnight Hammer.” Protests broke out across the country soon after.
