Businessman beaten by beard in Manikganj, video goes viral
A computer businessman was beaten by beard in the bus stand area of Ghior upazila of Manikganj. The video of the incident, captured on CCTV footage, has gone viral on social media. The victim of the attack, businessman Ali Azam Manik, has filed a written complaint with Ghior police station in this regard.
According to the complaint source, Ali Azam Manik runs a computer shop named ‘Manik Computer’ in the Ghior bus stand area. The accused Nasim Bhuiyan often went to the shop on the pretext of various work and left without paying the bill even after getting the work done. When Nasim asked for money, he threatened to close the shop and threatened not to let him do business.
The complaint further states that in continuation of this, Nasim Bhuiyan came to the shop on Monday (June 23) evening and demanded to get urgent work done. At that time, Manik asked him to wait for a while as he was busy with the work of another customer. But around 9 pm, Nasim, enraged, started pulling the shopkeeper Manik by the beard and abusing him in foul language. When Manik asked him to stop abusing him, Nasim suddenly kicked, punched and slapped him indiscriminately.
In this attack, Manik was injured in various parts of his body and felt pain in his beard. Hearing his screams, people around him and customers in the shop came and rescued Manik. Later, he was taken to the Ghior Upazila Health Complex in his injured state and given first aid.
Ali Azam Manik further alleged that during the attack, the accused broke a computer monitor in his shop, which was estimated to be worth 15,000 taka.
The victim Manik said, “He made me work at various times, but did not pay me any remuneration. When he asked for money, he got angry and went outside and consulted with three other people, then entered the shop, pulled his beard and beat him up. I want a fair investigation and trial from the government.’
Lincoln Rajib, the owner of a nearby computer shop, said in this incident, the act was very disgusting. He should be punished appropriately.
Local resident Mohammad Ataur Rahman said, we were very hurt after watching the video. It has hurt a sensitive area. I want exemplary punishment for him.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ghior Police Station Md. Rafiqul Islam said, police were sent to the spot immediately after the incident. Today we received a complaint and a case has been registered based on that complaint. The accused will be brought to justice. We saw the video footage, in which it was seen that he had done a very vile act by holding his beard.
