Until the last academic year 2014-15, students were admitted to the National University through an admission test. Then, for the first time in the 2015-16 academic year, the university authorities started admitting students to affiliated colleges on the basis of SSC and HSC GPA. This has been changed again after eight years. From the current academic year, students are being admitted through an admission test again.
The National University admission test was held in 879 centers in 64 districts and cities of the country from 11 am to 12 noon on May 31. More than 560,000 candidates participated in it. This admission test, held after eight years, was conducted in the MCQ (multiple choice) system. The time limit for the 100-mark question paper was 1 hour. The pass mark has been set at 35. 1 mark will be given for each correct answer and no marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer.
The merit list will be prepared based on a total of 200 marks by adding the marks obtained in the MCQ section to 40 percent of the GPA obtained in the SSC examination (including the fourth subject) and 60 percent of the GPA obtained in the HSC examination. In the 2023-24 academic year, there were 421,990 seats available for admission in the first year of the degree (pass course). Degree courses are taught in 1,969 colleges in the country. A maximum of 8 seats will be reserved for quota in each subject. Among these, there are three quotas for children of freedom fighters, one for tribals, one for disabled people and three for pets.
