July 16 will be celebrated as ‘July Martyrs’ Day’ and August 5 as ‘Mass Uprising Day’

The Press Secretary of the Chief Advisor, Shafiqul Alam, said that July 16, ‘July Martyrs’ Day’ and August 5 as ‘Mass Uprising Day’ will be celebrated. He said this in a post on his verified Facebook account on Sunday (June 29). And the government has withdrawn from the decision that August 8 was declared as ‘New Bangladesh Day’.

He mentioned in the post that July 16 will be celebrated as ‘July Martyrs’ Day and August 5 as ‘Mass Uprising’ Day. This decision was taken at the meeting of the Advisory Council. He also mentioned that no day is being celebrated on August 8.

Earlier, after the government fell in a student-public uprising last Wednesday, the government declared August 8 as ‘New Bangladesh Day’. The circular requested all the concerned ministries, departments and organizations to observe the day with due dignity every year. The day was included in category ‘B’ of the Cabinet Department’s circular on observance of national and international days.
