US ready to lift oil embargo if Iran behaves well: Trump

Donald Trump has said that the US is ready to ease sanctions against Iran, especially on oil exports. However, the condition is that Iran must stop its hostile behavior and return to the path of peace by behaving well. In an interview broadcast on Fox News on Sunday (June 29) local time, Trump said, “The sanctions are costing us a lot of money, but I am ready to ease them for countries like Iran, if they behave well. They can sell oil and do other things that they want to do.”

Last Tuesday (June 24), Trump announced on Truth Social that China will now be able to buy oil from Iran. However, just a day after this post, he said that he has no intention of cutting off Iran’s oil revenues, because the country needs this money to rebuild after the war with Israel. However, on Friday (June 27), Trump said he was temporarily suspending sanctions relief to help Iran rebuild, in response to remarks by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In an interview on Sunday (June 29), Trump rejected allegations that his administration had allowed China to buy banned Iranian oil. He insisted that the sanctions were still in place. But he added, “If they work, are peaceful and prove that they won’t do any more harm, then I will lift the sanctions.” Trump also raised the issue of the Abraham Accords, which normalize relations with Israel. He said that the Iranian threat had been the main obstacle to peace in the region before. Iran was the main problem.

Trump also said, “I thought there would come a time when Iran would join the Abraham Accords. Frankly, that would be better for them than what they are now. He also said that new countries had shown interest in joining the agreement after Iran’s recent setbacks, but he did not name any specific countries.
