2 killed in motorcycle collision in Bagerhat
A pedestrian and a motorcyclist were killed in a motorcycle collision in Bagerhat’s Mollahat. Another person was injured. The accident occurred at around 2 pm on Monday (July 28) in Chanderhat area of Mollahat upazila on the Khulna-Dhaka highway. The deceased are Rajeshwar Vaidya (65), son of the deceased Kalachand Vaidya of Agakendua area of Mollahat upazila, and Md. Saidul Islam (30), son of the deceased Dulal Sikder of Sadipur Sikder house in Banaripara, Barguna. The injured person is Mahbub Hossain (28), son of Ayub Ali of Chuadanga area. Police said that while Rajeshwar Vaidya was crossing the highway at around 2 pm, a Khulna-bound motorcycle leaving from Barisal hit him. As a result, pedestrian Rajeshwar Vaidya, driver Saidul Islam and rider Mahbub Hossain fell on the road. Upon receiving the news, the Mollahat Highway Police rescued them and took them to the Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there declared the motorcycle driver Saidul Islam dead. Later, Rajeshwar Baidya died on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment. The injured Mahbub Hossain has been admitted to the Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex. Sheikh Nuruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Mollahat Highway Police Station, said, “Two people were killed in the accident. The bodies were recovered and handed over to the families after completing the legal process. The motorcycle involved in the accident has been seized.” He said that both the deceased Saidul and the injured Mahbub were working in a private institution in Barisal. They were going to Khulna on a motorcycle. However, it could not be confirmed who was riding the motorcycle.
