Chief Justice calls for maintaining objectivity in news

Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed has called for maintaining objectivity in news production. He said that producing news on law, justice and the constitution is a complex and difficult matter. Therefore, news workers need to be more careful in verifying information. He said these things while unveiling the first souvenir of the Supreme Court Reporters Forum (SRF) ‘Jagaran’ at the Chief Justice’s office on Wednesday (July 30) afternoon. After unveiling the package, he said, “I have not noticed any deviation in the question of objectivity in the news and reports about the judiciary in the country’s media in the last one year since I took over as the head of the judiciary. Even so, a news worker should be more diligent in disseminating and publishing news or reports objectively.” Praising the news workers who collect news in the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice said, “Almost every day, I notice that members of the Supreme Court Reporters Forum are present in the courtroom, collecting news and disseminating and publishing them quickly.” Our expectation from the journalists is that you will be our partners in establishing an independent judiciary. The Chief Justice urged everyone to work together to brighten the honor, dignity and image of the judiciary in the coming days. At that time, SRF President Masudur Rahman said, the Chief Justice has taken many steps to establish a genuine and independent judiciary. Most of his steps have already been implemented. However, if an independent secretariat for the judiciary cannot be established, it will remain incomplete. We also want a separate secretariat for the judiciary. The SRF President expressed hope that this will enable the judiciary to play a more unique role in establishing justice. Earlier, the new committee of the Supreme Court Reporters Forum greeted the Chief Justice with flowers. At that time, SRF General Secretary Mehedi Hasan Dalim introduced all the members to the Chief Justice.
