My wife likes Putin: Trump
US First Lady Melania Trump ‘likes’ Russian President Vladimir Putin, but she (Melania) is disappointed by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, US President Donald Trump said. Russian media outlet RT reported this in a report on Wednesday (July 30). Since taking office for a second term, Trump has said that he respects both Russia and Putin and wants to find a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine crisis. However, in recent weeks, he has expressed increasing frustration over the lack of progress in the peace process and threatened more sanctions on Moscow. According to a report by RT, on Tuesday (July 29) episode of Pod Force One (political podcast), the US president said, “We know Putin and she (Melania) likes him (the Russian president). But Trump noted that shortly after his recent conversation with the Russian president, Melania commented that “they (Russia) bombed Kiev, which is very bad.” Earlier, Donald Trump announced that he would reduce the 50-day deadline set for Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine. When asked what the new deadline was, Trump said, “10 or 12 days from today.” Trump also said that a formal announcement on the matter would be made in a day or two. He told reporters, “If you know what the answer is going to be, there’s no reason to wait.” The US president also warned that sanctions or secondary tariffs could be imposed on Russia if they don’t reach an agreement.
