    6 people shot dead in Chankharpool in the capital: Hearing of charge-making today

    Today is the day for the formal hearing of the charge-making of the case of crimes against humanity in the shooting death of six people in Chankharpool in the capital on August 5 during the mass uprising of students and the public. On Sunday (June 29) morning, 4 accused arrested in this case were presented before the tribunal. The accused are dismissed inspector Arshad of Shahbagh Police Station and three constables Sujan, Imaz Hossain Emon and Nasirul. The hearing of the charge-making of this case will be held in Tribunal-1 headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder.

    Earlier, the tribunal decided to appoint a state-appointed lawyer for the four absconding accused, including former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, the main accused in this case. Earlier, on June 3, it was ordered to publish a notice in the newspaper to present the four absconding accused in this case before the International Crimes Tribunal.

    A notice was issued to a Bengali daily and an English daily, and the next hearing date was set for June 22. The tribunal took cognizance of the charges against 8 policemen in this case on May 25. The four absconding accused in this case are former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, former Joint Commissioner Sudip Kumar Chakraborty, former Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ramna region Shah Alam Md. Akhtarul Islam, former Assistant Commissioner of Ramna region Mohammad Imrul.
