7 people pushed in again through Lalmonirhat border
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed in 7 people again through the Baura border of Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat. Among them are 2 men, 2 women and 3 children.
They were pushed in through Main Pillar No. 882 at the Baura Hosnabad border of Patgram upazila early on Tuesday (June 24).
BGB and locals said that members of the Indian 157 BSF’s Maheshmari camp pushed in 7 people through the Hosnabad border of Baura union of the upazila. After that, when they entered Bangladesh, the locals detained them and informed the BGB.
They also said that the detainees had been living in Delhi, India for about 35 years. The Indian police detained them. It is also known that their home is in Khulna district of Bangladesh.
Upon receiving the information, members of the Rangpur 61 Battalion (Tista-2) Baura Nabinagar camp of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested them.
Baura Nabinagar BGB camp commander Rezaul Islam said that the people pushed in through the border will be handed over to Patgram police station. However, Patgram police station OC Mizanur Rahman said that the detainees are still in the custody of BGB.
On the other hand, the border guards of both countries have been on alert since the incident. It is learnt that the BGB has called for a flag meeting with the BSF at this time.
