76 more people infected with dengue in Barguna
76 more people have been infected with dengue in Barguna. With this, the total number of infected people in the district has increased to 2,855. Among the new infected people, 69 are in Barguna Sadar Upazila, 1 in Taltali and 3 each in Amtali and Patharghata Upazilas. Currently, 154 people are undergoing treatment for dengue in various hospitals in the district. Of these, 107 are under treatment in Barguna General Hospital, 9 in Amtali, 3 in Betagi, 17 in Bamna, 7 in Patharghata and 11 in Taltali. In addition, the total number of dengue patients in Barguna district is as follows by upazila:
Barguna Sadar: 2,592 people
Patharghata: 113 people
Bamna: 68 people
Taltoli and Amtoli: 27 people each
Betagi: 27 people
So far, 25 people have died of dengue in the district. Of these, 23 are from Barguna Sadar upazila, and one each from Patharghata and Betagi. In this regard, Barguna Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Abul Fattah said, “The number of dengue patients is increasing day by day. Dengue is not coming under control at all. We are struggling to provide medical services. If this situation continues, everything may go out of control.” He urged the locals to be aware and strengthen cleanliness drives and mosquito control activities.
