A man in Gazipur has been accused of burning his wife to death

A husband has been accused of burning his wife to death in Gazipur’s Sreepur. Police recovered the body of Marufa Akhtar on Sunday (August 3) morning. The CID’s forensic unit has collected evidence. The incident took place in the Idrabpur area of the upazila last night. The husband, Mizanur Rahman, is absconding since the incident. The accused husband, Md. Mizanur Rahman (45), is the son of Md. Sultan Mia of the same village. He runs a drug store. The relatives of the deceased said that at around 2:30 am, people around the house of accused Mizanur Rahman started shouting and shouting. Hearing the shouting, they rushed to the spot and found the main gate of the house locked. After this, everyone broke the lock of the house and started extinguishing the fire. By then, garment worker Marufa had died on the spot in the fire. Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Barik said that Mizanur Rahman has been accused of killing his wife by locking her house and setting it on fire at around 2:30 am. Members of the Crime Scene Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are working at the scene to collect evidence.
