    Accused in 9 cases, Jalil Dakat arrested

    Md. A. Jalil Khan (40), a fugitive accused in a total of 9 cases including robbery and weapons, has been arrested from Mirzaganj, Patuakhali.

    He was arrested in a joint operation by RAB-8 and RAB-6 on Friday (June 21) afternoon.

    Arrested Jalil is the son of Ali Akbar Khan, a resident of Hosnabad village of Betagi police station in Barguna district.

    RAB said that based on a secret information, Jalil Dakat was arrested in an operation conducted in the area under Mirzaganj police station. There are a total of 9 cases against him, including 5 robberies and 2 Arms Act cases.

    According to RAB sources, on the late night of April 8, Jalil and his gang robbed the house of expatriate Md. Gias Uddin. An organized gang of 10-12 robbers entered the house under Mathbaria police station by cutting the grill and took the family members hostage at gunpoint. Using intimidation, they looted a total of Tk 350,000 in cash, 29 gold ornaments, two smartphones and a laptop, along with goods worth Tk 452,000.

    After a case was filed with Mathbaria Police Station in connection with the robbery, RAB-8 and RAB-6 jointly launched an investigation. They strengthened information technology and intelligence activities to unravel the mystery of the clueless case. Later, after a long investigation, they were able to arrest Jalil.

    RAB said that Jalil the robber was the mastermind of the robbery gang. He has been handed over to Mirzaganj Police Station through legal process. An operation is underway to identify and arrest other members involved in the robbery as soon as possible.
