Are nuclear weapons safe in Pakistan’s hands, asks Rajnath
Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited Jammu and Kashmir for the first time on Thursday (May 15) after the conflict with Pakistan. During this time, he reviewed the overall security situation and the combat readiness of the Indian Armed Forces and spoke on various issues.
The Indian Defense Minister was accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. NDTV reported.
Addressing the armed forces, Rajnath Singh said, “I pay tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the brave jawans while fighting terrorism and terrorists. I pay tribute to their memory. I also pay tribute to the innocent civilians killed in Pahalgam. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
Describing Operation Sindoor as a “big commitment”, he further said, “This is the biggest operation against terrorism. We will go to any extent to stop terrorism. Pakistan must stop harbouring terrorists.
Rajnath Singh also questioned Pakistan’s ability to operate nuclear weapons.
He said,
How strong is India’s commitment against terrorism… It is known from the fact that we did not care about their (Pakistan’s) nuclear blackmail. The whole world has seen how irresponsibly Pakistan has threatened India. Today, from the soil of Srinagar, I want to raise the question whether nuclear weapons are safe in the hands of such an irresponsible and rogue nation.
The Indian Defense Minister also commented that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons should be taken under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
