    At least 12 killed in multi-storey building collapse in Pakistan

    At least 12 people were killed in a multi-storey building collapse in the Pakistani port city of Karachi. Several others were injured. The injured have been rescued and sent to hospital. According to Geo News. On Friday (July 4), two pillars of the five-storey building in the Lee Market area first collapsed. After a while, the entire building collapsed. The authorities declared the building risky a few days ago. Its structure has become even weaker due to recent rains. Still, a few families were living there.

    Many people are believed to be trapped in the rubble of the building. However, their chances of survival are decreasing with time. The emergency department is still continuing the rescue operation. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the collapse of the building in Lyari. At the same time, he has directed the concerned authorities to conduct rescue operations quickly and ensure immediate treatment of the injured. Incidentally, Lee Market is a historic and populated market located in the Lyari area in the southern part of Karachi. It is named after British engineer Measham Lear. About a hundred people were living in the building at the time of the accident.
