Attack on Army: Jaintapur Upazila BNP President, 9 in jail
A court has ordered to send 9 people, including Jaintapur Upazila BNP President Abdur Rashid, who are on bail in a case of attack on army members, to jail.
The accused appeared before the Sylhet District and Sessions Judge Court on Sunday (June 29) morning and applied for bail again. After the hearing, the judge rejected their bail and ordered to send them to jail. The matter was confirmed by the defendant’s lawyer, Advocate Nizam Uddin. Earlier, the accused were on interim bail from the High Court.
It is worth noting that on March 27, around 12 am, an army patrol team was returning to the camp after seizing an Indian buffalo in the Haripur Bazar area of Jaintapur Upazila. At that time, a group of smugglers hurled bricks and stones at the army members in a pre-planned manner. Several army members were injured and the vehicle carrying them was also vandalized. The day after the incident, a case was filed at Jaintapur Model Police Station, naming 70 people and accusing 150 others who were not named.
