August 5 will be a public holiday from now on as the day of the mass uprising of students and the public, said Advisor on Cultural Affairs Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui.
He made this announcement at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy on Thursday (June 19).
Farooqui said, “The program surrounding the July mass uprising will start from July 1 and will continue until August 5. Details will be announced next Monday. The main event will continue from July 14. The program will be organized in the way the country was united in the movement.”
The cultural advisor said that August 5 will be a public holiday from now on. A decision will be made to make August 5 a national day in the advisory council meeting on Sunday.
Farooqui said that the state-owned Radio Bangladesh Betar and BTV are being considered for autonomy, saying, “Education Advisor Dr. CR Abrar will work on this issue.
