Bangladesh’s political culture needs to change: Amir Khasru

BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that even if 1,000 reforms are implemented, there will be no benefit if the political culture of Bangladesh does not change. Therefore, we need to change our political culture and continue to do so.

He said these things at a discussion meeting at the Press Club today (May 27) at noon.

Amir Khasru said that the forces behind the mass uprising that gave responsibility to the interim government were firstly the support of all the students and the public, secondly the political parties of the country and thirdly the military of Bangladesh. These three forces also worked behind the fall of Sheikh Hasina – the students and the public, the united support of the political parties and the army helped it.

He also said that even though ten months have passed, divisions and divisions have been observed in that national unity, and it has been questioned. Even though everyone has submitted reform proposals, where is the consensus? It is not clear. Everyone is looking forward to knowing where is the consensus. But the context is being pushed towards uncertainty, said Amir Khasru.

Regarding future politics, he further said, future politics will not be the same as before. Politics must be done to truly fulfill the aspirations of the changing people. Parties or individuals who do not understand this have no political future.

Regarding the reform proposal, he said, although the points of difference of opinion have been expressed, where is the consensus not expressed. But the context is being pushed towards uncertainty. He urged everyone to inform about this.

He also commented that those who are walking on the path of fascism do not want elections. This BNP leader also raised the question of where the problem is in returning the interim government to the democratic path.
