    Businessman hacked to death in Jhalakathi, robbed of 5 lakh taka

    A businessman was hacked to death in the Chhota Pramor area of Bhairabpasha Union in Nalchiti Upazila of Jhalakathi and robbed of 5 lakh taka. The incident took place around 11 pm on Sunday (June 1).
    The injured businessman Nazrul Islam Howlader (60) is currently undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal.
    The injured Nazrul Islam is the son of the deceased Goyez Uddin Howlader of Chhota Pramor area. He was returning home after selling goods as a dealer of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), said his son Sabbir Howlader.
    Sabbir Howlader said, we were returning home at night after selling goods as TCB dealers. My father was going ahead on a bicycle, I was walking a little behind. Suddenly, five to seven miscreants sprinkled chili powder on my father and slashed him with sharp weapons. They then snatched 5 lakh taka from my father. At one point, they tried to attack me, but I ran away. Later, the locals came and rescued my father and took him to the hospital.
    Local resident Nazmul Hasan Titu said, “We are all terrified by this incident. Such an incident has never happened in the area before.”
    Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchiti Police Station Abdus Salam said, “The family has been asked to file a complaint. Legal action will be taken in this incident.”
