Checkposts will be set up on roads and highways across the country, patrols will be conducted on river routes to prevent extortion and ensure smooth Eid pilgrimage
RAB has set up checkposts at various places to ensure smooth Eid pilgrimage and prevent extortion on roads, highways and river routes. Police and RAB will regularly patrol the Sitalakshya River so that cattle traders can move freely.
It has been seen on the ground that a checkpost has been set up in the Bogar area of Trishal on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. Buses, cattle trucks and CNG are being stopped and searched. Documents are being verified. Motorcycle riders without helmets are also coming under punishment.
At least 20 vehicles have been seized till Tuesday (May 3) noon for violating the law. RAB said that this activity will continue on the return journey for Eid as well.
This morning, RAB-11 CEO Lt. Col. HM Sajjad Hossain inspected the market set up at Dhakeshwari Mill in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. He said that RAB-11 members will regularly patrol the Sitalakshya River and Dhaka-Chittagong Highway along with the police so that cattle traders can move around without any hindrance. He mentioned that the reason is that while cattle are being brought to various cattle markets, the criminals of the leaseholders of the Sitalakshya River are forcibly taking the cattle traders to their respective markets. In addition, these criminals are extorting money from cattle trawlers. Recently, when such videos spread on social media, the law enforcement agencies have decided to be on alert.
