    Childbirth at railway station, mother and newborn rescued through 999-admitted to hospital

    The police rescued a mother and baby who had given birth at the railway station after receiving a call on the National Emergency Service 999 number and sent them to the hospital. The matter was confirmed by National Emergency Service Police Inspector (Media and Public Relations Officer) Anwar Sattar.

    The incident occurred at Rupdia Railway Station of Kotwali Police Station in Jessore at around 3:45 am on Tuesday (May 3).

    Police Inspector Anwar Sattar said that early this morning, Station Master Babul Akhter called the ‘National Emergency Service 999’ number from the railway station and said that a woman had given birth on the station platform. At that time, he requested that an ambulance be sent quickly to save the lives of the mother and child as it was raining heavily there.

    The call was received by 999 call taker Constable Md. Deen Islam. He immediately informed the Jessore Kotwali Police Station and Fire Service Station to look into the matter and take immediate rescue measures.

    After receiving the information from 999, a team of Kotwali Police Station and Fire Service ambulance arrived at the railway station. Then the mother and the newborn baby were rescued and admitted to the Labor Ward-2 of Jessore District Hospital by Fire Service ambulance.

    It is learned that the mother is approximately 25 years old and is mentally ill. As of the writing of this report, the mother and the newborn are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
