Chinmoy Das ordered to be interrogated at the jail gate
The court has ordered a one-day interrogation of ISKCON leader and Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari at the jail gate in a case of attack and vandalism on the police in the court premises. At the same time, a report has been asked to be submitted by June 22.
The order was given by Chittagong’s Sixth Metropolitan Magistrate SM Alauddin Mahmud after the hearing on Monday (June 16).
Assistant Public Prosecutor of the court, Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury, said that the court has allowed the interrogation of accused Chinmoy Krishna Das at the jail gate following the application of the investigating officer in a vandalism case of the city’s Kotwali Police Station. In addition, a report has been asked to be submitted to the court in this regard by June 22.
The case was filed on November 29 by Khane Alam, brother of deceased lawyer Alif, on charges of attack, explosion and vandalism on lawyers.
Earlier last month, the police had obtained permission to interrogate Chinmoy at the jail gate in four cases.
On November 26 last year, members of the police’s Detective Branch (DB) arrested Chinmoy Krishna from Hazrat Shahjalal Airport while he was coming to Chittagong from Dhaka. The next day, he was produced before the court in a sedition case filed at the Kotwali police station.
