Credit for the opportunity for justice to be established goes to the leadership of the July Mass Movement: Asif Nazrul

Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul, Advisor to the Interim Government on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, said, the credit for creating an opportunity for justice to be established goes to the fearless leadership of the July Mass Movement. It is now the responsibility of all of us to protect this opportunity.

On Tuesday (May 27), he wrote this on his verified page on social media Facebook regarding the acquittal of Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam.

Asif Nazrul wrote, Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam has been acquitted of the death sentence in a case of crimes against humanity during the Liberation War as he was proven innocent. The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice unanimously approved his review against the sentence. The verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal sentencing Azharul to death and the earlier verdict of the Appellate Division upholding the death sentence have been declared null and void in today’s verdict.

He further wrote, “The credit for creating this opportunity for justice to be established goes to the fearless leadership of the July Mass Movement. It is now the responsibility of all of us to protect this opportunity.”
