Crimes against humanity: Hearing for framing charges against Sheikh Hasina and 3 others today

The hearing for framing charges against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, who are absconding in the case of crimes against humanity in the July mass uprising, will be held today. And this hearing may be broadcast live on television and social media. Earlier, on June 1, the tribunal took cognizance of five charges against Sheikh Hasina and three others. On that day, the court was broadcast live for the first time in the history of the country’s judiciary.

Later, the International Crimes Tribunal issued a notice to Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to surrender in the case of crimes against humanity in the July-August genocide. The notice has been published in the newspaper. It said that if they do not appear within 7 days, the trial will continue in their absence. The next hearing of the case was fixed for June 24. However, since neither of the two absconding parties appeared, the tribunal appointed lawyers for them. Earlier, on May 12, the investigation agency submitted the investigation report of Sheikh Hasina’s case to the prosecution, in which Sheikh Hasina’s name emerged as the instigator and orderer of the July massacre.
