Decision to celebrate ‘New Bangladesh Day’ cancelled

The government has withdrawn from the decision to celebrate New Bangladesh Day on August 8. However, the advisory council has decided to celebrate ‘Mass Uprising Day’ on August 5 and ‘July Martyr’s Day’ on July 16. These decisions were made at a meeting of the advisory council at the office of the chief advisor in Tejgaon in the capital on Sunday (June 29).

Earlier, on Wednesday (June 25), a separate circular was issued by the Cabinet Division declaring August 8 as New Bangladesh Day and July 16 as Shaheed Abu Sayeed Day.

In this, all the ministries, divisions and organizations concerned were requested to observe these two days properly every year. Along with this, the ‘B’ category of the Cabinet Division circular regarding the observance of national and international days was included in the celebration of the two days.
