Dispute with wife, mother-in-law stabbed to death by son-in-law

In Birganj, Dinajpur, an allegation has been made that a mother-in-law was stabbed to death by her son-in-law indiscriminately. Two more people were injured in the incident.

The incident took place on Friday (May 23) night in Chaulia Rampara village of Bhognagar union of the upazila.

The deceased Baha Besra (55) is the wife of the deceased Budra Hasda of Chaulia Rampara village of Bhognagar union of the upazila. The arrested Samiel Mardi is the son of Shaniram Mardi of Dakshin Chaulia village of the same area. The injured in the incident are Samiel Mardi’s wife Mini Hasda and Bikash Kisku, son of Sukhan Kisku of the same area.

According to police sources, Samiel Mardi and his wife Mini Hasda had been at loggerheads for a long time. At one point, Mini Hasda moved to her father’s house in Chaulia Rampara village last month. This further angered Samiel Mardi. In continuation of this, late on Friday night, he went to his in-laws’ house and stabbed his mother-in-law Baha Besra with a knife. He died on the spot. At that time, his wife Mini Hasda and brother-in-law Bikash Kisku came forward and stabbed them. Later, the injured were rescued and admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. Birganj Police Station OC Md. Abdul Gafur confirmed the matter and said that after the incident, the police conducted a drive at night and arrested Samiel Mardi on charges of murder. The deceased’s body was recovered and sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy after autopsy. Preparations for a case are underway in this regard.
