Extra fare collection and extortion at cattle markets: 7 arrested by army
The army has arrested 7 people in a drive in the capital to prevent extra fare collection and extortion at cattle markets during the Eid-ul-Azha pilgrimage.
This information was reported on the army’s Facebook page on Sunday (June 1).
It was informed that during a regular patrol of the army in the Kamarpara area adjacent to Uttara Sector 10 on Friday (May 30) at around 10:30 pm, 3 people were arrested on charges of illegally setting up a market, forcing cattle traders to sell at a specific market, and extortion.
In addition, four people were arrested on charges of collecting extra bus fare during a drive in the Abdullahpur bus stand area on Saturday (May 31) afternoon.
The army also said that the detainees have been handed over to the police after necessary interrogation.
