Farmers treat NCP leaders with jackfruit during July march
A heartwarming scene was seen during the National Citizens Party (NCP) march in the Balatari area of Satmatha, Rangpur. There, a farmer treated NCP leaders with ripe jackfruit from his tree. Overwhelmed by this sincerity, the leaders and activists said that such love from the people is the motivation for the journey. On Wednesday (July 2), around 10:30 am, the NCP leaders and activists set off on the Rangpur-Kurigram highway to participate in the mass mobilization.
The second day of the NCP’s month-long July march began from Satmatha in Rangpur with the slogan ‘New settlement to build a new country’. After the dialogue with the people, the march proceeded towards Kurigram. It was led by NCP convener Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossain. Also present were Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the northern region, Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the southern region, Dr. Tasnim Zara and local leaders.
The speakers at the march said, ‘Our main goal is to prosecute the July massacre, write a new constitution through the Constituent Assembly elections and implement the declaration.’ To achieve these demands, convener Nahid Islam announced a larger march in Dhaka on August 3 with students, workers and the public. It is worth noting that this march started from the holy land of the tomb of martyr Abu Sayeed on Tuesday (July 1). On the first day, it passed through Gaibandha and stayed in Rangpur again at night, and on the second day, it marched towards Kurigram.
