First trial and reform, then elections: Nahid

National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam said, we will ensure trial of those who shot and attacked during the student-public uprising. We will ensure trial of Awami League leaders and activists, including Sheikh Hasina, and the police who shot and killed our brothers and sisters on this Bengali soil. Trial, reform, then elections. He said this while meeting the families of the martyrs of the July Uprising at the meeting room of the Parjatan Motel in Bogra city on Saturday (July 5) morning.

Nahid said, although the trial of the July Movement is a long process, it must be started and made visible. At the same time, a roadmap for the trial must also be given. The Bangladesh government must provide political, economic and social security to the families of the martyrs and injured. He also said, it is not only this government, but whatever government comes to Bangladesh in the future, they must also take this. That is why I am talking about the July Charter. Nahid also urged to ensure reforms in the country through the July Declaration. In addition to party convener Nahid Islam, central leaders including chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam were present at the program. NCP will hold a ‘July Padayatra’ program in 64 districts of the country in phases on the anniversary of the July Uprising.
