Government increases minimum ‘special benefits’ for government employees to Tk 1,500
The government has decided to increase the minimum ‘special benefits’ for government employees to Tk 1,500.
This information was given in a press release of the Finance Ministry on Sunday (June 22).
The release said that a meeting of the Advisory Council was held today at the office of the Chief Advisor. The meeting approved the revised budget for the financial year 2024-2025 and the related specifications (supplementary) ordinance, 2025 and the budget for the financial year 2025-26 and the related specifications (supplementary) ordinance, 2025. Based on the opinions received from citizens in the newspapers and on the website of the Finance Department on the presented budget, the following changes have been made-
The special benefits of government officials/employees have been increased to Tk 1,500 for employees and to Tk 750 for pensioners. It has been proposed to provide special benefits at the rate of 10 percent for those receiving net tension above 17,388 taka and 15 percent for those receiving net tension below that. The proposal to issue a separate order for government employees as well as armed forces, judges and MPO members has been approved.
Earlier, on June 3, a notification was issued by the Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance announcing special benefits. It was informed that the minimum amount of this special benefit for working people will be 1,000 taka and for pensioners it will be minimum 500 taka.
