Government preparing for elections: Dr. Yunus

The government is preparing for fair, impartial and credible elections in Bangladesh. This was stated by the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, at the 30th Nikkei Forum held in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday (May 29) morning.

In his opening speech at the ‘Future of Asia’ conference, he said that emphasis is being placed on the transfer of democratic power in a clean manner. He also highlighted the July-August mass uprising at the event.

The Chief Advisor further said that the main goal of this government, which came to power through many ups and downs, is to fulfill the aspirations of the people of the country. At this time, he also highlighted Bangladesh’s humanitarian role in the Rohingya crisis and active participation in UN peacekeeping.

On the other hand, Dr. Yunus emphasized peace, trust and inclusion in the unstable reality of Asia. He said that the regional future will be determined not only by the GDP numbers, but also by the welfare, faith and courage of the people. At the event, the Chief Advisor urged the youth to become entrepreneurs instead of looking for jobs.
