Housewife dies after being electrocuted by a torn electric wire in a storm

A housewife named Mukta Akhter (18) died after being electrocuted while trying to fix an electric wire that was torn in a storm due to low voltage in Barguna.

The accident occurred at around 6 pm on Friday (May 30) in the Thongpara area of ​​Chhota Bagi Union in Taltoli Upazila.

Mukta Akhter is the wife of local Md. Rajib Sikder.

Police and locals said that Mukta Akhter’s house had been connected to an electricity supply from a house next door. Due to low voltage, the connection wire was torn and fell to the ground. As there was no electricity, when she went to fix the torn wire, the electricity suddenly came on. She died due to electrocution.

Taltoli Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahjalal said, “Mukta Akhter’s body has been recovered and sent to Taltoli Upazila Health Complex.”
