India is buying 26 fighter jets from France
India is buying 26 more Rafale fighter jets from France. This was discussed earlier. India signed the agreement in this regard on Monday (April 28).
According to Indian media reports, the 26 aircraft are being bought for Rs 63,000 crore. They will be handed over to the Indian Navy.
Pakistan is warning of war after suspending the Indus Waters Treaty. In this situation, local experts are seeing the strengthening of the Indian Army as ‘positive’.
India’s old MiG-21 aircraft have been phased out. The Indian Air Force is supposed to have 42 fighter squadrons. But it has now come down to 32, according to Defense Ministry sources. As a result, New Delhi is desperate to seal the matter with a contract for 26 fighter jets with France.
It is learned that these fighter jets will be used in the aircraft carrier ‘INS Vikrant’. The warship, which is made entirely with indigenous technology, is currently using Russian-made MiG-29 fighter jets. Once the Rafale is in hand, New Delhi will gradually retire these fighter jets.
India had earlier purchased 36 Rafale fighter jets from France. The country’s air force is using those fighter jets that came to India under a 2016 deal.
Incidentally, the Indian Navy has started a ‘show of strength’ in the wake of the Kashmir attack. On Sunday (April 27), they conducted a drill by launching missiles from warships in the Arabian Sea. The Indian Navy’s message on social media is, ‘They are ready to confront the enemy at any time, in any way and under any circumstances’.
Those concerned believe that the power of the Indian Navy will further increase with the signing of the Rafale aircraft deal.
