Ishraq’s new instructions to leaders and activists

BNP leader Ishraq Hossain has instructed his leaders and activists not to leave the streets until he is sworn in as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

He gave such instructions in a post on his verified Facebook account on Wednesday (May 21).

In the post, Ishraq said, “There is only one instruction – you cannot leave the streets until necessary.”

His supporters and activists have been protesting for seven consecutive days demanding Ishraq Hossain to be sworn in as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). However, instead of going to Nagar Bhaban like other days, they have taken up residence at Matsya Bhaban intersection today (Wednesday). This has stopped traffic in the area.

On the other hand, the High Court has postponed the date of the order on the writ petition seeking an instruction not to swear in Ishraq Hossain as the mayor of DSCC to Thursday (May 22).

On Wednesday, Justice Md. The High Court bench of Justice Akram Hossain Chowdhury and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury fixed this date. Advocate Mohammad Hossain heard the writ petition in the court. Deputy Attorney General Mahfuzur Rahman Milon appeared for the state.

Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Barrister Kaiser Kamal heard the petition on behalf of Ishraq. The writ petition was filed on May 14 by DSCC resident Md. Mamunur Rashid.
