Israel claims to have killed Iran’s new drone chief
Israel has killed the head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) aviation and drone unit. Israel also killed his predecessor about a week ago.
In a statement shared on social media, the Israeli military said the slain commander was leading the planning and execution of hundreds of drone attacks against Israel.
According to a report by Al Jazeera, the Israeli military claimed that the new commander of the IRGC’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) unit had been killed.
In a statement, the Israeli military said that air force fighter jets targeted the commander. The commander, identified as Amin Pour Zodkhi, was killed. The commander was supervising the launch of hundreds of UAV drones from southwest Iran into Israel.
The Israeli military said it had previously killed Tahar Far, the commander-in-chief of the IRGC’s drone force, on June 13. Zodkhi had played a central role in commanding operations since then.
