Israel has undoubtedly committed war crimes in Gaza: Matthew Miller

Matthew Miller, the State Department spokesman under the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden, said in an interview on Monday (June 2) local time that Israeli forces have committed war crimes in the war against Hamas in Gaza.

Miller, who served as a spokesman for the last two years of the Biden administration, told Sky News in a podcast interview, “There is no doubt that Israel has committed war crimes.”

Miller said, “I don’t think it is genocide. But Israel has committed war crimes — I have no doubt about that.”

Miller said, “There are two ways to think about the commission of war crimes. First, if a state deliberately adopts a policy of war crimes or acts recklessly in a way that facilitates war crimes. Is a state committing a war crime?

The former State Department spokesman added, “I think it’s an open question in the context of Gaza. But it’s almost certain that there have been some isolated incidents that are war crimes, where Israeli soldiers, members of the Israeli military, have committed war crimes.”
