Israeli attacks on Gaza kill 52, injure 503 in past 24 hours

At least 52 more Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the besieged Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours. More than 500 others were injured during this time. This brings the total number of deaths in the besieged valley to around 54,500.

The Anadolu news agency reported this information in a report on Monday (June 2).

A statement issued on the day said that 52 bodies were brought to hospitals in the past 24 hours. At the same time, 503 more people were injured, bringing the total number of injured to 124,693.

The statement also said that many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads. Rescue workers are unable to reach them.

Israel resumed its attacks on Gaza on March 18, canceling the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that was reached in January this year. Since then, air and ground attacks on Gaza have intensified.

According to the Health Ministry, 4,201 Palestinians have been killed and 12,652 injured in the renewed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since March 18. Israel’s brutal attack has broken the ceasefire agreement that came into effect in January this year.

According to the United Nations, about 90 percent of the Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced due to Israel’s brutal attack. In addition, most of the infrastructure in the besieged territory has been damaged or destroyed.

Earlier, in November last year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its invasion of the besieged territory.

At least 54,470 Palestinians have been killed since the start of Israel’s military operation in Gaza in October 2023, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.
