Issues on which there will be no consensus will also be announced: Ali Riaz

National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Dr. Ali Riaz said that consensus has been reached on many issues in the first phase of discussions with political parties. However, he said that those on which consensus will not be reached will also be made public.

Dr. Ali Riaz made these remarks in his opening speech at the National Consensus Commission’s discussion with civil society at the Krishibid Institution in the capital on Sunday (May 25) morning.

He said that consensus has been reached on many issues in the first phase of discussions. In addition, those issues on which consensus cannot be reached will also be made public.

The National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman said, we are working from a place of responsibility and accountability towards the sacrifices of the people. The ultimate goal of the commission is to create a national charter by utilizing the immense potential through the mass uprising. At the same time, this challenge is also very tough. This opportunity must be utilized. There is no chance of progressing the reform process without the participation of not only political parties but also civil society.

Dr. Ali Riaz said, in the first phase, the commission held discussions with 33 political parties. I spoke to each political party separately. There was agreement on some things, but not on others. I know that it is not possible to reach a consensus on all issues. The issues on which consensus will not be reached will also be informed. In the second phase, there will be more extensive discussions on the issues on which consensus cannot be reached.
